Family Health Centers, Inc. to Celebrate
National Health Centers Week
Orangeburg, SC—August 10, 2017—The Family Health Centers, Inc. will celebrate National Health Center Week with a series of events at the health center from August 13-19, 2017. The theme for this year's National Health Center Week is "Celebrating America's Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities." As local community owned and operated businesses, Health Centers serve over 25 million Americans at more than 9,000 delivery sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.
National Health Center Week is a weeklong campaign to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishment of U.S. health centers - the largest and most successful system of primary health care.
During National Health Center Week, the Family Health Centers, Inc. will recognize its patients, community and staff. On, Monday, August 14th, we will host Patient Appreciation Day with refreshments, giveaways and door prizes for our patients.
On Tuesday, August 15th, Public Housing Day, we will select seven low-income apartment complexes in our service areas of Orangeburg, Denmark, Holly Hill, Neeses, St. Matthews, St. George, and Vance and distribute laundry products to the residents.
On Wednesday, August 16th, we will host Public Service Day where we will have our annual clothing boutique for men, women and children of all ages.
On Thursday, August 17th, Agricultural Worker Health Care Day, we will select two to four farms located in Orangeburg, Bamberg, Calhoun and/or Upper Dorchester Counties and distribute hygiene products, educational materials such as bilingual books and book bags for the seasonal workers and their families.
In addition, we will end the week by hosting our Annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, August 19th from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. This year, we anticipate at least 20 vendors from various organizations and businesses through Orangeburg and surrounding cities to participate.
