Family Health Centers, Inc. (FHC) is seeking a dynamic, growth-oriented, community-driven, and highly collaborative Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization into its next season of growth and impact after the retirement of their long-tenured CEO.

A federally funded community health center serving the medically underserved residents of Orangeburg, Bamberg, Calhoun, and Upper Dorchester counties in South Carolina, FHC is part of a nationwide network of health centers that serve more than 31.5 million Americans, providing care to the medically vulnerable and underserved. FHC's mission is to promote health and provide quality comprehensive health care to all with courtesy and respect. The organization's vision is to promote the health of their community by working in partnership with patients, providers and other organizations to improve access and eliminate disparities. The center served approximately 20,000 last year.

One of the largest rural health centers in South Carolina, Family Health Centers, Inc. is accredited by the Joint Commission and was the first primary care medical home in the state to be accredited by the Joint Commission. Today, FHC is poised for additional growth and community impact.

The CEO is responsible for the management, direction, and coordination of all organizational operations and related activities for the purpose of attaining the goals and objectives as set forth by the Board of Directors. The CEO will embody the values and mission of the Family Health Centers, Inc. and bring a sincere passion for aiding the Centers that provide high-quality, comprehensive primary health care to medically underserved communities and residents of the communities where their communities are located.

Key Selection Criteria for this position includes the following:

  • Seven to ten years of executive level experience including five years of experience in an administrative role in a healthcare or healthcare related entity is required. FQHC background highly desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, public administration, business administration or a related degree is required. MBA, MHA, MPH, MPA, or Masters in other related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in cultural competence, operational aspects of program development and management, personnel and human resources management, staff management, budgeting, staff motivation/retention in an environment of limited resources, government relations, and community partnerships in an ambulatory and/or other healthcare or healthcare related setting.
  • Process Improvement-focused and ability to streamline operations.
  • Results-oriented and forward-looking operational leader.
  • Experience introducing current, innovative resources and strategies to support the expansion of services and programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skills combined with excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
